CBD INDUSTRY OUTLOOK

The CBD industry is blowing up all around the world, in a good way. With the growing popularity of CBD products, more and more customers are turning towards CBD for its many health AND wellness benefits.

The CBD industry has already been on an upward trajectory in recent years, and especially with the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill - it became legal to grow or possess hemp under federal law as long as it has less than 0.3% THC. However, some cities, counties and states may have their own restrictions. Cannabidiol, or CBD, is just one of over a hundred cannabinoid compounds found in cannabis. THC compound is the cannabinoid that get you high. In contrast, CBD is non-intoxicating.

Researchers believe that CBD’s ability to act on the endocannabinoid system and other brain signaling systems may provide many health benefits. CBD can be an appealing option for those who are looking for relief without the mind-altering effects of marijuana or certain pharmaceutical drugs.

UNDERSTANDING THE CBD SPECTRUM

To fully understand the subtle effects of CBD, one needs to know of the various forms in which CBD products are available on the market. The following are the three most common types of CBD: Full-Spectrum, Broad-Spectrum and CBD Isolate.

FULL-SPECTRUM

When CBD is referred to as full spectrum or whole plant CBD, it means that the CBD contains all other cannabinoids found in the Cannabis Hemp plant including CBN (Cannabinol), CBG (Cannabigerol), and THCV (Tetrahydrocannabivarin), to name a few. And yes, along with these cannabinoids, Full Spectrum CBD also contains trace amounts of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), but in very low concentrations (Less than 0.3% THC).

Full-spectrum CBD is made up of over a hundred cannabinoids that are embedded in the Hemp plant. It contains all the oils, terpenes, flavonoids, cannabinoids, and fatty acids that are found in the Hemp plant. According to experts, when bundled together, in a process known as the “entourage effect,” full-spectrum CBD can be used as a more powerful option as compared to traditional CBD isolates.

BROAD-SPECTRUM

Broad-spectrum CBD contains over 100 cannabinoids within the hemp plant except for THC, which is completely removed after the initial extraction. Because broad-spectrum extracts contain multiple cannabinoids, they also produce the “entourage effect,” but without the THC. Broad-spectrum CBD is the preferred choice of getting all of the benefits of full-spectrum CBD without any of the psychoactive effects.

In a very simplified manner, broad-spectrum CBD is like a mix between full-spectrum CBD and CBD isolate. It contains the entire spectrum of cannabinoids EXCEPT for the THC part.

CBD ISOLATE

CBD isolate is a crystalline solid or powder that contains 99% pure CBD. A traditional extraction process removes all the active compounds from the cannabis plant, followed by a refinement process that strips away all other phytocannabinoids, including THC, and any plant matter, leaving behind nothing but the CBD chemical compound in its purest form.

HOW MUCH CBD OIL YOU SHOULD TAKE?

BEST TO START SLOW

Since there are a lot of factors that come into play when deciding your CBD dosage, you should first consult with your doctor, especially if you are currently going through treatment for any underlying disease.

As a rule of thumb, the CBD dosage should start with 15 to 40 mg a day, with an incremental increase of 5mg per week, if needed. You can continue this process until you notice the therapeutic properties of CBD taking effect. It is advised to follow the recommended dosage on the labels, if you want to get the most out of your CBD products.

The obvious reason, for starting slow, it’s cost effective and it makes you observe how you feel as you go. It truly forces you to pay close attention to subtle changes in your body. Do I feel less stress and anxiety? Do I have less pain? Am I sleeping better? Do I have an overall sense of well-being?
